
About Association
The Lingayat Education Association came into existence in the year 1883 by the forethought of late Raobahaddur Artal Rudragouda and Raobahaddur Gurusiddappa Gilaganchi and many others with humble and sincere objectives to promote the cause of education in this part of Karnataka. It has been rendering yeoman service to the society by way of providing scholarship to the poor and deserving students.
The association is established with the aim to give scholarship to the educationally backward Lingayat community in particular and to all weaker sections who were educationally and economically backward in general, the sole intention of giving scholarships to the under privileged and educationally backward communities. The Association celebrated its Centenary during the year 1987.
With passage of time the Lingayat Education Association felt the need of starting its own institution to serve more the deserving ones in the society. A humble beginning was made by starting a nursery school “Udaya Shishuvihar” in 1975 and established a Kannada Primary School in 1979.
The Lingayat Education Association realized the importance of professional education for the youth of the society and decided to establish professional school. In the process it started an I.T.I., a Law College, Homoeopathic Medical College and a Unit for a course in library Science in Dharwad. Hurakadli Ajja Law College was established by Lingayat Education Association in the year 1983 for which blessing of his Holiness of Shri Paramapujya Hurakadli Ajja are ever remembered by dedicating the college to his name. Hurakadli Ajja, a teacher turned into holy saint was instrumental in inspiring the Lingayat Education Association to start a Law College not only by his blessing but also by his personal donations. Many individuals by their dedications and the donations have been pioneers in maintaining the spirit and mission of Lingayat Education Association. The Lingayat Education Association is also instrumental in inspiring the society to participate in its humble service to the needy.
The Lingayat Education Association is happy to see the growth of Hurakadli Ajja Law College in the last three and a half decades and thank all those who are responsible for its growth without forgetting the student community. With the passing of time, the college continued to grow academically and materially.
The college which is affiliated to Karnataka State Law University Navanagar, Hubballi, imparts legal education for the three years LL.B degree course qualifying for the profession of Advocate as required by the Bar Council of India. The Bar Council of India has recognized the law college, and is registered under clause 2(f) & 12 (B) of the UGC Act. The college is included under grant-in-aid of Govt. of Karnataka in the year 2015.
